Crios Weaving

The Art of Hand Weaving is inherent to many cultures. The Crios, a traditional hand woven belt made predominantly on the Aran Islands, is an important part of Irish Heritage.

A variety of patterns is created by carefully combining different colours of wool.

Each belt is unique.

Criosana are often used at weddings for hand binding ceremonies. In my workshops I invite couples to design and weave their own Wedding Crios on an Inkle Loom.
