VERONIKA STRABERGER - Visual Artist

is living and working in the small village of Keekill on the shores of Lough Corrib, Co. Galway. Her creative journey focuses on developing a sustainable art practise working in harmony with nature and the unique eco-system of the neighbouring lakeside. She gathers local materials following nature’s seasons to become sources of inspiration, from willow to moss, leaves and berries, woolly fleeces and raw clay and soil. Her work is steeped in old traditions and local craftsmanship, such as clay brick making, basketry and loom weaving, drawing on the knowledge of those who came before.

 

Veronika offers open art workshops engaging local community groups and individuals alike. She encourages participants to explore and discover their own creative medium in an expressive way. In an artist residency at her two-hundred-year-old thatched cottage she invites you to disembark from every-day life and connect with nature’s surroundings in a creative and mindful way. Her studio is open to visitors by appointment.
